Winter X 2004, Team ESPN arranged a Play Your Way Girls Day on-site at Buttermilk Mtn.
Activities for 9-12 year old girls included a meet and greet at
Team ESPN tent, goody bags from X Games, lunch in ESPN's VIP tent
and a presentation by ESPN Talent Linda Cohn, and X Games athletes
who spoke about what it was like to become a successful X Games
athlete. Later, the 25 girls were treated to a snow skate clinic in
Play Your Way Park.
ESPN Deportes is the brand under which ESPN Inc. has been serving U.S. Hispanic sports fans since 2000. ESPN Deportes is committed to helping promote sports in the Hispanic community by creating and supporting programs that educate and enrich young Latinos about sports through clinics and educational outreach programs.
Soccer Clinics
ESPN Deportes hosted a soccer clinic for the New Britain Boys
& Girls Club to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Football Clinics
In an effort to educate Latinos about American Football,
ESPN Deportes has hosted various football clinics in collaboration
with the National Football League for youth in various
communities.
Baseball Clinics
ESPN Deportes has held a baseball clinic with Hall of Famers
Juan Marichal and Orlando Cepeda and 30 kids in Puerto Rico with a
local not-for-profit organization.
ESPN international offices provide support to various sports-related outreach programs on a global level. Their interests often leverage the power of sports to encourage the continued development of goodwill efforts worldwide.
Caravana Do Esporte
ESPN Brazil host a sports caravan where they take several sports celebrities to poor communities. During the visit they provide the community with the opportunity to learn and develop their knowledge and skills in sports. It also provides an outlet for social inclusion.
ESPN Radio held its second annual "Don't Ever Give Up V Foundation Auction" in July 2006. The day-long interactive radiothon -- featured a variety of items and experiences ranging from autographed jerseys to hosting your own podcast to VIP experiences at sporting events and ESPN headquarters -- it was promoted on all of ESPN Radio's national programs. As a complement to the on-air auctions, an on-line component through www.espnradio.com and www.espn.com .
The event is one of Team ESPN's corporate outreach initiatives
which coincided with the ESPY Celebrity Golf Classic and the ESPY
Awards Show. Net proceeds benefited The V Foundation for
Cancer Research.
Skateboarder Paul Rodriguez, ESPN's Play Your Way spokesperson was on hand to talk to approximately 300 kids from local Boys and Girls clubs who came out to watch Summer X athletes practice their stunts and tricks. Paul and X Games announcers addressed the importance of staying active and leading a healthy lifestyle and took questions form the kids as they watched the operations unfold at the Staples Center.

"Fans Helping Fans"
Team ESPN encourages employees and fans to be champions in their own communities. Team ESPN conducts community service and employee volunteer events in local communities.

Colleagues of ESPN and members of the Bristol Police participated in a flag football fundraiser at the historic Muzzy Field in Bristol to benefit the Bristol Boys and Girls Club. ESPN Talent Kenney Mayne, Stuart Scott, Michelle Beadle, Doug Gottlib, Bram Weinstein, Jay Harris, Jonathan Coachman, Kevin Connors, Mike Hill and Steve Bunin participated in this exciting fundraising event. ESPN employees participated as players and volunteers. |

National Trails Day
Team ESPN is a sponsor of the National Trails Day Festival & Family Fun Day held in Panthorn Park in Southington, CT generally held on the first Saturday in June. National Trails Day brings together outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds to celebrate the great natural heritage of the United States trail system. National Trails Day was established to recognize the value of recreational trails and the people involved in building and maintaining them. Team ESPN volunteers participate in this day with a Team ESPN booth that features miniature golf and other carnival games. |

Team ESPN sponsors the tennis venue at the Special
Olympics Connecticut Summer Games. Volunteers serve as
scorekeepers, registration coordinators, lines people, ball
persons and award presenters.

Book Buddies
Team ESPN supports Book Buddies, a one-on-one community volunteer program that promotes reading by providing books for underserved children. Three times a year, employees donate books and Team ESPN volunteers deliver them directly to homes with children. |

Team ESPN Celebrates "Content of Character" in Charlotte ESPN Regional Television (ERT) celebrated Black History
month at South Mecklenburg High School in front of 400 high
school students. Working in partnership with Team
ESPN and P.U.L.S.E. members of ERT's Diversity Committee
compiled a diverse panel of media professionals, including
ESPN anchor/reporter Cara Capuano; the Sporting News
Editor-in-Chief Garry D. Howard ; local "Power 98 FM"
radio personality No Limit Larry; and Fox Charlotte repoter
Jacinda Garabito.
The program, engaged student to recognize and celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s messaging aligned with ESPN's "Content of Character" program. The discussion was conducted in a "rap session" for students to discuss the three themes, education, equality and generational leadership.

KaBoom Build in Bristol, CT!
ESPN, with funding from The Walt Disney Company and support from KaBOOM joined with the Bristol Boys & Girls Club and community volunteers to build a playground in six hours. Volunteers turned Bristol's Brackett Park into a state-of-the-art play spot for local children and families. |
